A traffic shift to a newly constructed alignment of Brown Road next to Livingston Elementary School is planned for State Route 81 in Covington from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, if weather permits, Pittman Construction Company will pave on the final SR 81 alignment. The contractor will have lane closures and flagging operations throughout the day while performing this work. Drivers are asked to be mindful of heavy equipment and people in the work zone.

The $2 million project consists of the construction of left turn lanes with auxiliary lanes on SR 81 from Bethany Road to Cowan Road. The construction includes one 12-foot travel lane in each direction and 14-foot left turn lanes at Bethany Road, Cowan Road and into Livingston Elementary School.
