The Fourth of July celebration is starting a little early this year in Social Circle, with a free evening of fun set for Saturday, June 29.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a parade through downtown Social Circle, and a $200 prize will be awarded for the best float.

Starting at 7 p.m., a concert in Stephens Park will feature gospel group Georgia. The male trio sings both new and classic Southern gospel.

Special guest performers will be the 116th Army Band from Marietta, part of the Army National Guard.

Food options include hamburgers and hot dogs sold by the Social Circle Fire Explorers as a fundraiser, Big Kev’s Barbecue from Rutledge, Chick-fil-A, and Churn N Scoop ice cream.

A live radio broadcast by WMSL 88.9 FM will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. and throughout the fireworks show, which begins at dark.

During the show, a fireworks soundtrack will be played via the station.
