A surge at the Georgia Power substation left part of Social Circle without power Thursday evening.
Parts of the west and north end of the city were in the dark from 8:30 p.m. until around 10 p.m., according to Social Circle City Manager Doug White.
Social Circle 911 alerted Georgia Power of the outage, who responded to correct the problem.
According to Social Circle Police Chief Terry Sosebee, SCPD was conducting low light firearms training at the Walton County Sheriff’s Office range up until around the time that the outage occurred.
“Several of the SCPD officers that had attended the training stayed over to assist the on duty officers with traffic and alarm issues that resulted from the power outage,” Sosebee said.
