A Snellville man was killed Thursday evening when he pulled out from Cowan Road onto Ga. Highway 81 into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.

The truck hit the driver's side of the Nissan driven by James Leitch, 34, killing Leitch on impact, according to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright.

The truck then hit a guy-wire, or tensioned cable, attached to a utility pole. The Austell driver was taken to Newton Medical Center for treatment.

Cowan Road is south of Oak Hill Road on Ga. 81, near Livingston Elementary School.
