Some Snapping Shoals members may have received an extra refund check recently, but the electricity provider is asking members to destroy those checks.
Spokeswoman Leigh-Anne Burgess said a printing error caused customers to receive duplicate capital credit refund checks. She did not know how many customers received the checks as of Friday afternoon.
If customers have any questions about the checks, they can call 678-729-8053. Snapping Shoals will print out a message on all of its August bills to notify customers and is also sending out letters and postcards to affected customers.
As a non-profit, Snapping Shoals must refund any revenues, or capital credits, that are received above the cost of providing service for the company's customer-owners.
Any unclaimed capital credits must be used to support scholarships, grants and economic and community development projects.
