A Covington man was arrested on drug charges Friday after authorities allegedly found him passed out in his car with a gun in his lap at a Honey Creek gas station.

Rockdale County Sheriff's deputies allegedly found Chris Warren Hamilton, 27, sleeping in his Dodge pickup truck at the pumps of the closed Valero gas station on Hwy 20 in the early morning hours of April 26.

According to the arrest report, a deputy approached the vehicle on a safety check and found an incoherent Hamilton dozing with a 9mm pistol in his lap.

The report states that upon exiting his vehicle Hamilton informed the deputy that he was in possession of another gun, a .380 Taurus, strapped in an ankle holster in addition to a knife in his pocket.

While searching Hamilton and his vehicle the deputy also allegedly found a glass pipe and three buds of a green leafy substance along with a clear bag with suspected methamphetamine and a white straw.

Hamilton was then transported to jail and charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of drug related objects.
