Remember Kaila Sills and Andrew Terrell, the couple who got engaged during the 2012 Covington Christmas Parade?

Wedding bells replaced the jingle bells on Sept. 21, when Andrew and Kaila Terrell were married, just months after Andrew surprised Kaila with a proposal on the square. Andrew rode on a float with both his parents and hers, with signs reading, "All I want for Christmas is yes" and "Kaila Sills, will you marry me?"

Since then, the couple has been enjoying a blissful life together.

Though it drizzled rain on their September wedding day, both Kaila and Andrew said it was a beautiful occasion.

"Honestly, it was probably the best day of my life.

Everything might not have gone perfect, but it was perfect to me," Andrew said.

The couple met in eighth grade at Cousins Middle School, learning together in the same homeroom class. They dated off and on through high school (he went to Newton, she to Eastside), but it didn’t last.

Nearly four years ago on Dec. 21, the Cousins Middle School sweethearts reconnected at a mutual friend’s birthday party. They have been inseparable since.

After saying their  "I do’s," the Terrells have been adjusting to marriage, buying their first home together in Covington and even adding a puppy,  a standard poodle/Rottweiler mix named Cami, to their little family.

"We want to enjoy the married life for at least a few years," Andrew said.  "We want to be able to go on vacations and be able to do stuff together, just enjoy each other before we start having little ones running around."

Dec. 1 marked the one-year anniversary of their Christmas season engagement.

"I had no idea. It was a total, complete surprise," Kaila said. "I never would have thought that’s how it was going to happen."

Andrew said, "I wasn’t nervous until we were right on the square. I thought my knees were going to give out . … I just jumped out of the trailer and took off running to her and everything went perfect."

The couple planned to again attend the Covington Christmas Parade.

Andrew said,  "That’s going to be a new little tradition for us. We’re going to go every year and we’re going to stand where I proposed."
