Officers with the Covington Police Department arrested the on-site manager at Sears on Jan. 13 for processing more than $2,000 in fraudulent transactions to pay his lawyer to handle his bankruptcy case.

According to the incident report, Scott Henderson admitted to the loss prevention personnel that he processed several fraudulent refunds in exchange for gifts cards. The refunds totaled $1,888.18. Henderson also authorized voids for cash transactions, which totaled $320.

Henderson admitted to officers that he committed the thefts and told officers he had many financial problems during the past year, which left him desperate and led him to do things he normally would have never thought of doing.

Henderson was arrested and charged with felony theft by taking. He was transported to the Newton County Law Enforcement Center for processing.
