After two days, the Dixie Boys 2012 World Series opening game concluded with an offensive explosion.

South Carolina defeated North Carolina 23-13 on field one at City Pond Park on Sunday behind six RBI, three runs and three this by Brandon Spittle, including a triple.

North Carolina led 5-3 after two innings and the first day of play on Saturday, before lightning came into the area and pushed the tournament into starting on Sunday.

When play resumed North Carolina added two more runs to push its lead to 7-3, but its bats would struggle from that point on.

South Carolina started Dustin Frye on Saturday, as he went 2 innings, giving
up three hits and five runs. However, on Sunday Edward McMillan got the ball, and struck out four batters, while walking four more.

Robert James also had three hits, while scoring four runs and driving in two more. Edward McMillan drove in four runs for South Carolina.

Every player in the South Carolina lineup got at least one hit, with Taylor Finley adding two and Jay Barnes three. All players also drove in at least one run, with Sam Watford tallying three RBI.

North Carolina's Logan Harris took the loss, giving up seven runs in one inning of work. Harris had four walks and hit one batter.

James Jacobs led North Carolina offensively, going 2 of 5 with five RBI, including a three-run home run.

South Carolina will play Louisiana in the second round Monday at 4 p.m., while North Carolina faces Arkansas in elimination bracket at 1 p.m.
