Rockdale officer placed on leave after 'inappropriate relationship' allegation

IN BRIEF: A Rockdale County Sheriff's School Resource Officer working at Heritage High School has been placed on administrative leave during an investigation into accusations of an "inappropriate relationship" with a student.

According to a released statement, Deputy Thomas Donahue has been placed on paid adminstrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.

The RCSO was contacted by the principal of Heritage High School on Monday regarding the possibility of an inappropriate relationship between the Donahue and a current student.

Sheriff Jeff Wigington contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into any potential criminal charges.

This is Donahue's second year being assigned to the school. He has been employed with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office for approximately five years.
