Authorities in Gwinnett County have arrested a man suspected in a Rockdale County home invasion that took place in February of 2011.
On February 3, 2011, three armed men forced their way into a house located on Crest Valley Drive, holding six victims at gun point and robbing them of cash and jewelry. One of the victims was kicked in the head several times during the home invasion, causing bleeding and substantial injuries. Responding deputies had brief contact with the suspects and gave chase after they jumped out of an upstairs window, but were unable to apprehend them at the time.
During the course of the investigation, Carl Frederick Ziegenbein, 26 of Norcross, was identified as one of the suspects and warrants were issued for his arrest in early January of 2012.
On Monday, January 30, 2012, Carl Frederick Ziegenbein was apprehended by fugitive investigators with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office after locating him at a house on Bailey Drive in Norcross. Ziegenbein was arrested on an active felony probation violation warrant from Gwinnett County and is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Jail.
Ziegenbein faces multiple charges in Rockdale County of Armed Robbery, Battery, Burglary, False Imprisonment, Obstruction, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing, as investigators are still working to identify the two additional suspects.
