Recycling event planned

DeKalb Academy of Technology & Environment will provide an environmentally sound way to dispose of electronic waste Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The event, open to the public, residents and businesses, will allow people to dispose of unwanted home computers, televisions, monitors, printers, fax machines, small household appliances and cell phones free of charge.

CRT devices (TVs and monitors) will also be accepted for a $5 charge for each CRT monitor; $10 charge for each CRT TV; and $30 charge for each large projection or wooden console and Plasma TVs.

Unaccepted materials include items containing biohazards, hazardous waste, freon, or liquids of any type, smoke detectors, or radioactive materials.
