April 19 was a very special day at Piedmont Academy as the school opened its doors for grandparents, relatives and other guests.

Music teacher, April Allen, directed the students in preschool through fifth grade with a program full of songs, solos, duets, trios and individual speaking parts.

Each homeroom in the school provided live plants that were given away as door prizes at the end of the program.

This year’s elementary performance was “Livin’ Inside Out in an Upside Down World” created by Celeste Clydesdale and arranged by David Clydesdale.

The program was based on the Scripture, “Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.” Psalm 51:6.

Students in K3 and K4 performed the songs “Wiggle Room,” “Reach” and “He Plants Me Like a Seed.” Soloists were Matt Allen and Gavin McCart.

The theme for kindergarten, first and second grades was “Stomp and Praise” created by Jimmy Travis Getzen and Gail Getzen.

Speaking parts were performed by Cole Clark, Haiden Crews, Buddy Fountain, TJ White, Dalton Wallace, Ben Jackson, Mason Owens, Carson Hammock, Savannah Stanton and Haiden Crews, Russ Hagwood, Savannah Stanton, Abbi Arnold and Dylan Pitts. Performing soloists included Dakota Mosley, Tanner Beam, Emily McEwen, and Abbi Arnold. The group songs included “Leaning,” “Make a Joyful Noise” and “I Believe.”

Third, fourth and fifth grades performed a skit. The cast included Mrs. Simmons – Emily Mills; Nurse Zelda – Jordan Camp; Zach – Zach Spivey; Emma – Kelsey Leach; Kendall – Mari Jablonski; Jackson – Payton Wallace; Sarah – Loren Pope; and Lucy – Rebekah Hicks.

“Inhale the New Life” was sung by soloist Emily Mills. This was followed by “Here’s What-cha Watch-cha Gotta Do” by soloist Morgan Whitley. A duet, “Livin’ Inside Out” was performed by Rebekah Hicks and Emily Adamczyk. Jessica McEwen, Adrianna Chapko, Emma Crews and Mallory Boyd performed “Three Blind Guys.” “Shepherd Boy” was performed by soloist Sydney Stroud; “Only You (The King Who Came to Serve)” was performed by the trio of Hannah Tyler, Brianna Mitchell and Piper Potts.

The group sang “Everyday with Inhale the New Life,” “The Ways of the World” and “Upside Down World.”
Afterward, the school served refreshments provided by the lunch room and the guests visited the children’s classrooms.
