One of the suspects in Thurdsay's robbery of Bank of North Georgia has died.

Arthur Hayse, 40, of Lithonia, was the passenger in the getaway car being driven by 32-year-old Rickey Brown, Jr. of Decatur. Both men fled the Salem Road bank and headed into Rockdale County, being chased by police. The chase ended at the Iris Glen apartment complex in Conyers.

According to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright, Hayse attempted to jump from the vehicle he was in while it was still moving and stumbled. When he did, he hit the bumper of a patrol car driven by Conyers Police Chief Gene Wilson and went under the vehicle. He later died from injuries sustained.

Wilson was not available for comment due to a previous appointment. However, Wright said that GSP is doing a crash investigation and the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team will assist in the follow-up investigation.

Brown was transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he remains on charges of armed robbery by intimidation.
