A group of women got a chance to avoid the “Booby Trap” in an afternoon of learning about Breast Cancer awareness and prevention provided by Newton Medical Center and Breast Patient Navigator Wendy Hankins, RN, CBPN-IC.
The day was full with learning the proper way to perform a self breast exam, the importance of regular clinical breast exams and the need for annual mammograms. Several of the attendees had already been to the diagnostic center, while others were familiarizing themselves with the facility.
“I was interested in seeing all the things they have to offer,” Grace Lloyd said.
In addition to the educational sessions, the women also had a chance to nosh on snacks, receive gift bags and win door prizes.
Staff members, such as Shona Fisher, department manager of the Women’s Diagnostic Center of Newton Medical Center, Melody Fisher, instructor, and scheduler Christy Printiss were available to schedule mammogram appointments.
