Newton Medical Center Auxiliary is hosting its popular Books Are Fun book and gift fair on Monday, Sept. 14 through Wednesday, Sept.16 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The sale will take place in the main lobby of Newton Medical Center and will include books and gifts at 30 to 70 percent off retail prices benefiting the Auxiliary. Everyone in the community is invited to come and shop the sale.
“The book and gift fair is a great way to start your holiday shopping early. You’ll find something for everyone at our sell including children’s books, bestselling authors, biographies, how-to manuals and cookbooks as well as gifts, toys and games; we have it all,” says Auxiliary Board Member Jo Ann Ownes.
All proceeds from the book and gift fair go to benefit the hospital. Over the years, the Auxiliary has given several gifts to the hospital using funds raised from events such as the Books Are Fun vendor sale. Some of the gifts purchased have included equipment for digital mammography, fetal monitoring and portable x-rays just to name a few.
The Auxiliary is currently recruiting new volunteers to serve patients in the hospital and conduct fundraising events such as the vendor sales, the annual spring gala and the fall golf tournament. The volunteer program is the way that Newton Medical Center brings the community into the hospital and the hospital into the community. Volunteer positions are available in clinical and office areas of the hospital which include outpatient transport, Women’s Diagnostic Center, Wishing Well Gift Shop, BirthCare Center greeters and outpatient recovery for children under five. Newton Medical Center would love to put your gifts and talents to work.
