Newton High School played host to the Newton Classic Livestock Show in Covington Saturday.

Cattle, ewes and swine were shown by their young handlers and judged based on the quality of the animal and presentation.

Students who competed were of either 4-H or FFA and represent Heard-Mixon Elementary School, Mansfield Elementary School, Indian Creek Middle School, Alcovy High School, Eastside High School, Newton High School and Jasper County High School.

The Alcovy, Eastside and Newton, Future Farmers of America association and Newton 4-H hosted the event.
