Newton County under flood watch
3 to 4 inches of rain expected by Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Newton and surrounding counties through Saturday night. Numerous thunderstorms are expected from a cold front that will push its way through the Southeast Friday and Saturday.

Today: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 67. East wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between one and two inches possible.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 71. Southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Saturday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38.
