Newton County Reads receives state award

Newton County Reads, Executive Director Paryn Wallace recently received an award during the Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP) Conference at Amicalola Falls, Ga. Gov. Nathan Deal and First Lady Mary Deal were guest speakers during the event.

The award recognized Newton County Reads for increasing the number of GED graduates in Newton County programs.
Newton County Reads has been approved as a CLCP since 2000.

CLCP certification is granted by the Technical College System of Georgia through the Office of Adult Education.

In order to continue to provide quality literacy, GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, Newton Reads is sponsoring a Scrabble Tournament on Saturday, April 28 at the Oxford College Student Center.
