Linwood Brice, Jr., of Newton County, died during a single-vehicle wreck Thursday evening.

Brice, 66 of 64 Moss Road, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis after he was traveling south on Hwy. 36 at Anderson Circle. According to Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) Sgt. Cortney Morrison, the van Brice was driving crossed the center line and struck a tree around 11:30 p.m.

“Coroner Tommy Davis and Cpl. [Jack] Redlinger believed [Brice] experienced some sort of medical emergency that caused him to exit his lane as there were no skid marks,” Morrison said.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident and Brice was wearing his seat belt.
