The Moving Newton Transit Master Plan is hosting a Public Meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Turner Lake Banquet Facility in Covington.

The meeting will present findings from the county's transit needs assessment, collect input on the draft transit vision, and offer one-on-one discussion with the project team.

This is an open-house-style meeting. Community members may drop in at their leisure.

Attendees will also be able to participate in the Transit Preferences Survey on-site, a news release stated.

The meeting is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Turner Lake Banquet Facility at 6185 Turner Lake Road NW in Covington.

In addition, the Transit Preferences Survey for the Moving Newton Transit Master Plan is open for public participation through Aug. 27.

This second survey is designed to gain more insights into the feasibility of specific transit services and operations for Newton County.

Topics include potential transit service types and options, service frequency, fare costs, and more. The survey builds upon input collected from a first community survey and public meeting carried out in late spring 2021.

All community members are invited to participate.

"Your feedback is important to us!" a news release stated.

The Transit Master Plan will evaluate and recommend transit services and strategies for the county based on local conditions, population trends, and the potential need and demand for establishing services in Newton County.
