Newton County has exhausted its initial supply of H1N1 nasal spray vaccine, but health officials said additional vaccine shipments will be slowly arriving over the next few weeks.

The East Metro Health District, which serves Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale counties, exhausted its initial supply on 6,500 doses on Saturday, as its health centers gave out more than 1,900 doses during the special Saturday clinic day, said Suleima Salgado, EMHD public information officer.

Salgado said the vaccination campaign is expected to last several more weeks and possibly months, and people are encouraged to be patient as the vaccine arrives slowly.
