Yet another television series is rolling into Newton County to film, and plenty of extras are needed to fill the backdrop of scenes in the new ABC drama "Resurrection."

Local residents are invited to send in their information if they are interested in working as extras. Filming will begin on July 22 and continue through mid-October.

Used to portray Arcadia, Mo., places around Newton County such as churches, playgrounds, diners, etc., will be chosen for filming and creating a small-town feel for the show.

The casting will be done by Cynthia Stillwell Casting. According to Cynthia Stillwell, people of all shapes, sizes and colors are needed, and families are encouraged to apply.

Casting directors are looking for recurring people to fill the scenes, to give the feeling that the characters really are in a small town where they would see many familiar faces on a day-to-day basis.

"We are looking for real faces and real people, students, nurses, lawyers, doctors, church-goers, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and just people who live in the community," said Stillwell.

"It is important for us to create an ensemble of people doing things that they really do in their day-to-day lives, for example, going to church.

"We want to create a sense of community off-screen, so that it will also show onscreen. "

In particular, children 7 to 8 years old are needed, as the main character is young.

Other elementary-age children are needed, and teenagers can be used as well. Children should be accompanied by a parent, and whole families are welcome.

The main character in the series is an 8-year old boy, who initially wakes up in a rice patty in China. He doesn’t know where he is or how he got there, and with the help of an American INS inspector he is brought back to his hometown in Missouri. Soon everyone discovers that this is a child who died 32 years previously, and no one has any idea how he has come back to life.

The storyline follows the child and his now much-older family and friends as they try to understand what has happened and why.

Anyone who applies to become an extra must include a photograph, which can be either a head shot or a more candid photo, as long as it is recent.

These should be sent to info@cynthiastillwellcasting.com, along with information including name, age, size, height, weight, place of residence, and telephone number.

Experienced drivers who can use their own cars in scenes also are needed. If they wish, they can attach photographs of their vehicles.
