Newton Campus students who obey the rules of the road will earn a free sandwich from Chick Fila during Operation Safe Holiday.
Beginning at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 9, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office will set up safety road checks in the exit driveway of the Newton Campus. All vehicles will be stopped and occupants who are wearing their seatbelts will be rewarded with a coupon from Chick fil-a. Those who are not wearing their seat belt will be given information concerning the Governor’s Office of Highway Traffic Safety Click It or Ticket program.
Representatives from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) will also be present with information concerning drinking and driving. The NCSO reports that no uniform traffic citations will be issued during this educational opportunity.
GPC police officers and NCSO deputy sheriffs will work along with non-law enforcement participants including GPC Executive Vice President Ron Carruth. GPC President Dr. Anthony S. Tricoli has been invited to attend schedule permitting.
The NCSO and the Governors Office of Highway Traffic Safety provided GPC with Click It or Ticket signs which were attached to speed limit signs in the drive ways to the Newton Campus.
