NAACP wins awards

The Newton County NAACP chapter won two awards at the annual state conference, Sept. 29-Oct. 2, at the Marriott in Atlanta.

Bradford Porter won an award for outstanding academic educational achievement, while the group won the 2011 Alan English Youth Council Spirit Award for having the best banner and most spirit at the conference.
