ALBANY - Authorities say a south Georgia mother is facing charges after they say she concealed her baby's death by throwing the infant into a trash can.
The Albany Herald reports that 20-year-old Deanna Hammond was arrested Tuesday night by Albany police.
District Attorney Greg Edwards said that in addition to being charged with concealing the death, Hammond faces an additional charge of throwing away or abandonment of a dead body.
Edwards said investigators believe Hammond threw the baby in the trash can before her mother called 911 for emergency medical help.
