COVINGTON- A suspect wanted for the burglary and attempted burglary of Metro PCS stores in Conyers and Covington was caught by Rockdale deputies and U.S. Marshals on Tuesday, June 17.
Shortly after 5 p.m., investigators with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office and members of the US Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force took the suspect into custody in a mall parking lot in Lithonia.
The suspect was identified as Demetre West, 22 of Conyers. West was booked into the Rockdale County Jail and faces a charge of burglary.
On June 7, at 5:55 a.m., the suspect broke into Metro PCS at 2020 Eastside Drive in Conyers by throwing a rock through the front glass door.
A van was seen passing through with no lights on about 15 minutes before the burglary.
Thirty minutes prior, the same suspect attempted a burglary at a Metro PCS in Covington, but was unsuccessful. The picture of the suspect is from security camera footage at the Covington burglary.
The same store was previously burglarized on May 15, although it is not known if the two crimes are related at this time, according to the RCSO.
A few days after the June 7 burglary, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Demetre West, 22 of Conyers.
