A man told a deputy with the Newton County Sheriff's Office that three men tried to steal his deer stand on Thursday. A report from the NCSO said a deputy responded to a home on Mote Road in reference to a theft. The man said he saw three black males carrying his deer stand down the road. He said he left it by a tree in the woods across from his house. When the man confronted the males, they dropped the stand and ran towards Mote Crossing. The man said some of the clips to the stand were missing. He described one of the men as wearing a red jacket and a book bag and another male wearing grey pants and a red hoodie.

Restroom Break
A deputy with the Newton County Sheriff's Office responded to the Walmart on Salem Road after a woman reported that someone stole money from her purse. The woman said she went to the restroom at Walmart and placed her purse on the hooks in the stall, but when she left out she forgot her purse. The woman returned to the restroom about five minutes later and found her purse in the trash can and all the contents emptied out except for her insurance card, one dollar bill and some loose change. A security officer with Walmart reviewed the surveillance video, which showed only three other people enter the bathroom after the woman. A $20 bill, prescription pills, debit card, Georgia driver's license and social security card were listed as stolen. The estimate value of the items was $284.
