The annual Memorial Day service will take place on the square at 10 a.m. Monday, with keynote speaker Max Vincent, senior pastor at Allen Memorial United Methodist Church in Oxford.

Youth Director of Covington First United Methodist Church, Jennifer Morganthall, will sing the National Anthem before the program, and will close the program by singing The Lord’s Prayer.

Posting of the colors will be done by the Newton High School Marine Junior ROTC.

The names of Newton County citizens on the downtown war memorial monument will be read aloud, and a wreath will be placed on the monument in their honor.

This event is open to everyone.
