COVINGTON, Ga. - Robbie Marshall, the mother of Kevin Marshall, told The Covington New a homegoing ceremony will be held for her son this week.
A homegoing ceremony is an African-American Christian funeral tradition where family and friends celebrate the deceased "going home" to Heaven.
The Marshall family will hold two homegoing ceremonies.
The first ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18 at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, located at 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur. The second ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 19 at the House of Hope Atlanta, located at 4650 Flat Shoals Pkwy, Decatur. The ceremonies will end at 4:30 p.m.
The Marshall family will receive friends at their home after each ceremony.
Kevin Marshall was killed on July 4 when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle on North Lake Drive.
