CVS-Robbery

A Covington man was arrested for robbing a CVS pharmacy Monday night, according to the Covington Police Department (CPD).

Preston Jones, 28, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and wearing mask or hood to conceal identity.
According to a release from the CPD, officers responded to an armed robbery at a CVS pharmacy on US Hwy 278 in Covington around 10:51 p.m. Reports said Jones, who wore a flag around his face, showed the female pharmacist a gun and told her to give him Oxycodone or “he will kill her.”

Jones left the pharmacy with a medicine bottle containing 100 tables and a bottle of allergy medicine containing 30 tablets, according to the release.

The release also said that Jones was wearing a fluorescent traffic vest, black ball cap and gray long sleeve shirt. During a search, officers found Jones hiding behind a house on Haynes Court, two streets behind the CVS.

Officers found a black Taurus pistol on Jones, and he was transported to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
