A middle-aged white male was killed Saturday afternoon while attempting to cross Washington Street.

According to Covington Police Department Sergeant Allen Martin, the man was attempting to cross the street around 3:40 p.m. just south of Carroll Street close to Johnson's Supermarket when a vehicle struck him. The victim's name is being held pending family notification.

Georgia State Patrol is currently working the investigation.
