Directly following the funeral of murdered Newton County woman Ketitra Techelle Jones, a semi-automatic handgun was collected and warrants have been issued for one man who reportedly tried to pull it on people attending the gathering.

Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Oxford Police Department responded to Under the Stars Banquet Hall in Oxford Thursday afternoon following several phone calls from people saying a man there had a gun.

When deputies arrived, they learned that a woman attending the gathering in honor of Jones had recognized a man there as someone she said attempted to rob her in DeKalb County on a different date. Several other people at the gathering had gone up to that man to confront him. When they did, he attempted to get to his car where he had a gun. They were able to wrestle the gun away from him and give it to authorities when they arrived. The man fled the scene.
