While on patrol, a Covington officer observed a vehicle weaving in and out of the lane and crossing into the left lane. The vehicle also accelerated faster than the posted speed limit.

The officer then made a traffic stop on the vehicle.

When the officer spoke with the driver Michael Perrault, the officer could smell alcohol on his breath and person. The officer also observed that Perrault's eyes were glassy and he was unsteady on his feet.

Perrault said that he had only had one drink, but had it several hours ago.

When the officer conducted routine sobriety tests, Perrault lost his balance several times and could not complete the tests successfully.

Perrault was arrested for driving under the influence.
