Man arrested for drug store robberies

Christopher Westmoreland was arrested in connection with several robberies in Newton, Rockdale and DeKalb counties.

The Decatur resident was identified by a citizen who saw a be on the look out issued Friday. Westmoreland was arrested and taken to the Rockdale County jail Saturday.

Covington police were looking for Westmoreland in connection with a robbery of Walgreens at 3188 Hwy. 278 Thursday.

According to reports, the white male entered the drug store and presented a note stating he had a gun and told the clerk to give him money from the draw.

The man then left in a blue two-door Acura sedan with a spare tire on the front driver's side.

He is believed to be the same person responsible for three other robberies in DeKalb and Conyers.

In the robbery in Conyers Thursday around 9:20 a.m., at the CVS Pharmacy located at 1541 Ga. Highway 20, a white male appearing to be in his 50s walked into the pharmacy, handed the cashier a note implying he had a gun in his black and gray Volcom brand backpack and that he was robbing the store. The cashier gave him the till from the register, and then the man took off on foot out the store. No one was injured. The gray-haired man was seen in the store wearing a yellow t-shirt, West Virginia hat, blue jeans and glasses.
