Local ministries out of funds

The News recently ran a story about local ministries being out of funding to provide those in need with shelter, food and utility bill assistance. Several businesses and community organizations have started collecting donations and canned goods for these ministries.

To make a donation send a check to the following local ministries.

* Canned goods drive at the Newton County Health Department

Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday and Thursday.

* Rotary canned good drive: Canned goods and non-perishable food items will be collected at every Tuesday lunch meeting until further advised.
