Local dance team wins big

Local dance team, the Sapphires of Dance Time, came away as big winners at the Showstopper Regional Competition held at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta Feb. 16 and 17.

The Junior Team — Aysia Jacobs, Ciara Hall, Jamiyah Reed, Jordyn Rodney and Kayla Wyatt — won first place overall, double platinum for their hip-hop routine and platinum for their contemporary routine.

The Senior Team— Tegest Kwayana, Amiyah Croone, Erica Thornton, Cheyenne Rodney — won third place overall, platinum for their hip-hop routine and gold for their lyrical jazz routine.

The dances were choreographed by Dance Time owner and operator KiTonya McCoy and instructors Marsinah Epps and Kelly Honeycutt.

The group of young ladies look forward to many more wins.

The community is invited to join the group on March 10 at the Showbiz Talent Competition in Athens.
