The Covington News and Mainstreet Covington are teaming up to shine a little light on the 2014 Holiday season.
The Covington Square will be aglow in more than 70,000 lights, but the spectacle won’t stop there this year. Stretching outward from the Square, historic downtown Covington residents will have a chance to participate in the first Holiday Lights of Covington contest, sponsored by Christmas Décor by Grant Lawn and Décor Services.
Prizes will be awarded to the residence with the display that best entertains and shows the Holiday spirit.
Candidates for the prestigious title of the most spirited house in Covington must be nominated to qualify for the contest.
Nomination beings Nov. 20 and runs through Dec. 7. To nominate a house go to covnews.com/lightsofcovington.
Following the nomination period, the festive houses will be available for votes from Dec. 8-19.
Not only will the top three houses be awarded, but all nominators and voters will be entered into a drawing as well.
The area of houses to be judged will be within the perimeter of Hwy. 278 to the Bypass Road/Eagle Drive to Flat Shoals/Turner Lake Road and back to Hwy. 278.
