A man who has sporadically plagued the Newton County Library by flashing patrons in between the stacks was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Eric Dioniss Spearman, 52, is charged with three counts of public indecency. According to Covington Police Captain Ken Malcom, library employees called 911 around 3:15 p.m. When officers arrived, they saw a man matching the description given to dispatch operators flee into a wooded area behind the Floyd Street library. He was apprehended shortly thereafter.

The CPD is currently working two previous cases involving flashing at the library and Spearman reportedly matches the description given by victims in those cases as well.

"We have been actively working two investigations of public indecency involving a person matching Spearman's description, one on February 23, 2011 and another on March 3, 2012. We are confident that this individual was the perpetrator of these incidents as well," said Malcom. "We credit the quick response of the CPD officers working today for bringing this year-plus long investigation to an end."

The investigation has also revealed that Spearman has been charged with 14 similar offenses in the Metro Atlanta area.
