Jonah Meredith and his band Asmodeus will be performing at The Battle of the Bands competition at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Road, Conyers, today, July 10.

Jonah, 11, is the high energy drummer in the band. His bandmates are his brother Jordan Meredith, who plays lead guitar and family friend Hayden Keating-Broyles, who plays the bass guitar.

Though young in years, Jonah is a sight to see on his drum set. His mother Jeri Meredith explained, "Jonah has been playing the drums since he was 4 years old." This Friday will not be Jonah’s first performance; he performs twice a week at The Church at Monticello where he and his family attend church services.

Jonah stated that he, "does not ever get nervous," and even though this will be his first performance in front of a larger crowd and with his new bandmates, nerves are the last thing on his mind.

During their performance this weekend, Asmodeus will perform four original songs and one cover song of "Wipe Out" by the Beach Boys. Asmodeus will be one of five teen bands performing in the Battle. Band members hope they have a great chance of succeeding.

The doors to the event will open at 7 p.m. and the music is set to begin at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the music and fellowship. The Rockdale Baptist Church Youth Group will be having a "lock-in" that night and will be present during the concert.

Event coordinator and Rockdale Baptist Church Worship Leader Austin Studebaker said that five bands will be performing Friday night and I expect a crowd of around 100.
