Jason Stribling is not one to seek the spotlight. But he couldn’t avoid it Tuesday evening.
Social Circle Police Officer Stribling was awarded a Life Saving Commendation award by the Social Circle Police Department in front of the city council, mayor and residents Tuesday evening for his swift response in first-aid efforts to a CSX employee who lost an arm in an accident with a train car near the General Mills facility.
“It’s good to know you have people in the community who will step up and step forward,” Police Chief Terry Sosebee said.
Sosebee presented Stribling with an award ribbon, recognizing the fact that his actions helped stem the employee’s extreme blood loss after being on patrol in the area.
“Your actions and comments from the community in the past years have proved we, as the council, made the right decision (in expanding to an individual police and fire department),” said Mayor Hal Dally.
Stribling, even during his moment in the light, focused his attention on others.
“I don’t know a police or fire officer who wouldn’t have stepped up,” Stribling said.
