Jamaican gets 3 years for molestation

A Jamaican man will be deported after serving time for the ongoing molestation of a 3-year-old girl.

47-year-old Donald George Waite was first arrested in September 2010 after an investigation was initiated by the mother of the child and hospital staff after the child was brought to the emergency room complaining of pain. After evaluating the child, doctors confirmed she had been molested.

During a forensic interview with the little girl she disclosed that Waite, who is known to the family, had sexually assaulted her more then once with an object.

Waite took a negotiated plea in front of Superior Court Judge Eugene Benton Tuesday. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of more than $1,000. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim or her mother and is required to participate in sex offender probation once he has been released. He must serve 15 years of the sentence before being eligible.

Georgia law requires that non-citizens convicted of certain crimes (of which child molestation is one), be deported after they serve their time.
