UPDATE: I-20 west just west of exit 88 (Almon Road) has all lanes shut down due to the large brush fire and the smoke it is producing.

Several small brush fires continue to burn after 9 p.m. along the north side of Interstate 20 between the Almon and Salem road exits, causing delays to westbound travelers.

A reporter driving on I-20 said it took about 30 minutes to travel two miles right beginning right before the Almon Road exit (Exit 88). The right two lanes are blocked and only the left lane is open at that point.

Fire officials said earlier this evening that the blazes are under control but have produced a lot of smoke in the area, resulting in traffic delays.
