Health and Fitness Expo coming Saturday
health

We are already two months into the new year, meaning the weight-loss plan is well under way or it’s getting past time to shed those unwanted Holiday 2014 pounds.

The Covington News has the perfect way to help with both of those scenarios with our 2015 Health and Fitness Expo. The Expo will be Saturday, Feb. 21 from noon until 4 p.m. at Newton College and Career Academy, 144 Ram Drive in Covington.

The free event will feature a full lineup of health and medical experts from around Newton County.

There will also be a grand prize giveaway of an 8-inch Touchscreen Dell Venue Tablet and several door prizes.

It is free to all who attend, featuring free health screenings, entertainment, presentations and exhibitors. Among the exhibitors are Alcovy Fitness, Health Care providers, Home Health Care Services, Newton Medical Center, the Covington Y, Covington Family Chiropractice, Decatur Pediatric Group and more.

While learning ways to keep healthy, visitors can also enjoy information and entertainment on our main stage. Appearing at 12:30 p.m. will be a wellness fitness demonstration from Alcovy Fitness, followed by Newton Medical Center at 1 p.m. Will Ready will perform at 1:30 p.m., followed by Decatur Pediatrics, Newton Medical and another appearance by the singer, Ready.

Our grand prize giveaway will be announced at 3:45 p.m.

While walking around the expo, visitors can have their blood pressure screened, weight checked, allergies screened, gain patient education and more.

Included in this special section of The Covington News is tips and resources from your own community to help continue or kick start a healthy lifestyle.
