Several organizations are joining together to host a voter registration drive at the Newton County Library for National Voter Registration Day.

God’s Concerned Citizens of the USA and World, the Newton-Rockdale Chapter of the League of Women’s Voters, the Chi Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Newton County Branch of the NAACP will hold a voter registration drive from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday Sept. 24.

The drive will be held at the Newton County Library, 7116 Floyd Street.

Debbie Hillman, a political action person with the Newton County Branch of the NAACP, said branches around the state were challenged by the NAACP Georgia State Conference to register 50 new voters before National Voter Registration Day.

Hillman said the NAACP has joined with organizations to hold a few voter registration drives already to register new voters.

“We will continue registration for all of the groups because even though Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, it is a continuous effort,” Hillman said.

For more information about the voter registration drive, call Minister Elizabeth Partridge-Godfrey, chairman of God’s Concerned Citizens of the USA and World at 678-625-4728 or Debbie Hillman at 404-217-5219.
