The Covington Kiwanis and Rotary clubs are hosting the Legislative Prayer Breakfast for the second straight year from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Turner Lake Complex.

Syndicated columnist Dick Yarbrough, whose column appears every Wednesday in The Covington News, will be the guest speaker; coffee and light breakfast will be served.

Official invitations are being sent to all federal, state and local elected officials who represent Newton County.
The event is free, but attendees must have a ticket.

Tickets can be picked up at multiple places in Covington beginning Friday, including The News at 1166 Usher St., the Newton County Clerk of Courts office, 1132 Usher St., and the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce, 2101 Clark St.

Yarbrough is a self-described "Southern philosopher, political pundit and straight-shooting humorist all rolled into one"; visit dickyarbrough.com for more information.

The Newton County Recreation Department has agreed to host the event for the second straight year.
