Expect plenty of company on the roads this Thanksgiving holiday, and expect to pay more for gas, too.

The Georgia State Patrol says its officers will be watching for impaired drivers, seat belt violations and speeders, according to a release.

The holiday runs from Wednesday through midnight Sunday.

There were 13 deaths in crashes last Thanksgiving, and 888 injuries in 2,348 collisions.

The state patrol and police agencies across the nation consider Thanksgiving an Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) holiday. The program seeks to reduce traffic deaths through high-visibility enforcement and education efforts.

Gas prices are 27.9 cents per gallon higher than this time last year, according to the website atlantagasprices.com. Prices are 5 cents higher than a month ago in Atlanta, while the national average has risen 4.1 cents in a month.
