A fatality accident involving a motorcycle occurred near the recycling center on Stone Road around 4:30 p.m.

Lt. Tyrone Oliver, with the Newton County Sherriff's Office, said he didn't have any more details, but recommended that drivers avoid the area for the time being. The Covington-Newton County 911 Facebook site reported that Stone Road was closed until further notice and that delays were expected.

An eye witness traveling northbound on Ga. Highway 81 said traffic was also delayed on that highway.

Because the accident is a fatality, Oliver said the Georgia State Patrol will be handling the investigation.
