An exchange of gunfire led to a man being shot and killed Tuesday evening.
The incident, still under investigation by Newton County Sheriff’s Office, reportedly occurred around 11 p.m. in the Creek Way area.
When deputies arrived one adult male had been shot in the stomach.
According to NCSO Investigator Jeff Alexander, there were four subjects involved. Alexander said the decease and two others, approached someone, and gunfire was exchanged. Two different caliber shells were found on the scene, implying two separate guns, and a possible shootout, according to Alexander.
“The deceased and the victim fired eat each other,” Alexander said. “The deceased was able to walk across the street where he fell and was found by law enforcement.”
Alexander said the man was taken to the hospital, where he died of his wounds.
Details are currently limited on the case, as the NCSO continues its investigation.
