An elderly Covington woman was killed Monday when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street.

Wanda Wilson, 76, was reportedly crossing the street to get to her mailbox at the 300 block of Duncan Road, when a vehicle, being driven by 20-year-old Jessica Wood, came around the curve and struck her. Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, said Monday night that Wood stopped her vehicle and called for help after striking Wilson. She will not be charged in the accident.
